Meet the Lackey's

Dan and Andrea Lackey (aka Hot Mama) were both born in the Midwest and met nearly 20 years ago in London, Canada at a Euchre tournament. They continued their courtship by playing Euchre tournaments in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, and Illinois while Andrea pursued her Aerospace Engineering degree as a single mother of two. Upon her graduation in 2006, Dan and Andrea married in Dan’s home state of Iowa. Another two kids later, the family moved south and the BBQ Pitmaster was born.

Pitmaster Dan learned the art of smoking meat in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and specializes in brisket, ribs, pulled pork and tri-tip. Dan makes his own rubs and marinades and also has a recipe for the best mac ‘n cheese you've ever had in your life. Dan hangs on to the Oklahoma tradition of serving smoked BBQ bologna, which is becoming quite popular at his catering events in Southern California. Andrea has created the specialty BBQ sauces and desserts, which Dan smokes right alongside his meat.

Dan’s Oklahoma BBQ is packed with flavor and heat and he loves smokin’ up meat for large groups with his 8-foot smoker, named after his wife “Hot Mama.”
